3.1 What i learnt by doing the construction preliminary exercise

During this exercise i had worked with Georgina, Niel and Abderahim. The aim of this exercise was to film a character walking across the room, portraying the 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot and match on action.

We had decided on a story line which was a girl called Jessie (whom Georgina played) was going for an school teacher job interview taken by the head of the school, Bob (played by Niel). My job during this exercise was the sound and props, i had to make sure that the characters were dressed appropriately for the story line and get the props together, also to find a setting for us to record. I also helped Abderahim get the shots correct as he was recording.
Firstly we had recorded in the library office, it was going pretty well. I had learnt how to do all of these shots using a camera although we had broken the 180 degree rule. looking back at our recording i was quite impressed with shots that we had as they were correct the only problem was that whilst we were recording we didn't have a mic as there was none left, leaving our group with no choice but to record again as you could hear hardly nothing.

Technology and camera
Using the camera i learnt it was important to make sure that you test the camera first to see if it works properly, also to make sure that the battery is fully charged. I also learnt that making sure you have the all the right equipment such as the Mic and boom was very important to have as without it, it was very quiet and you can barely hear anything, which was what had happened to us and led us to recording again leaving us with less time to edit.

  1. Good presentation using the storyboards. You show a basic understanding of the equipment and the required elements of the preliminary exercise. Level 2 Planning
